Storm Recovery
Maintenance Field Worker SUMMARY Cleans, clears and repairs storm damaged property of municipality including streets, public rights-of-way, storm drainage, and other public structures or infrastructure by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following although other duties may be assigned. Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from director and completes written work orders for all jobs performed. Picks up storm debris on City's property, right-of-way and parks. Assists with the repair, maintenance, and cleaning of storm damaged structures. Assists with the repair, maintenance, and cleaning of storm damaged traffic control devices and signs. Assists with repairs to paved streets with asphalt, cold patching materials, and concrete; grades and fills holes on unpaved streets. Paints interior and exterior walls and surfaces of City buildings and/or equipment. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Able to speak the English language fluently. SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES Ability to respond regularly and promptly to work during regular business hours; reasoning ability and common sense; skill in effectively planning work activities and utilizing resources; knowledge in the use of backhoe, tractors, chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, and all lawn equipment; and ability to deal tactfully with the public. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid class “C” or above Texas Driver’s License w/good driving record. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Mobility which includes sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, vision, hearing, talking, writing, pushing, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting up to 70 lbs. Able to work in all weather conditions such as heat, cold, and rain. WORK ENVIRONMENT Noisy, distracting environment with a frequent change of tasks. Work is performed predominantly outside in all weather conditions; the work atmosphere demands multiple duties and involves maintaining open lines of communication and working closely with others as part of a team.
