City Hall Parking Lot
Construction
Posted: Thursday, October 8, 2009
Hurricane Ike took its toll on all kinds of property in Shoreacres,
including City Hall. Slowly we are making repairs and hope to be back
good as new by the summer of 2010.
Previously we repaired the marquee. This week we replaced our radio
tower and antennas. Next week we will begin the process of replacing the
parking lot. Not only did flood water damage the asphalt surface, but
heavy trucks and forklifts used to provide emergency supplies created
hazardous potholes that desperately need repair.
Parking Lot Construction Begins Monday, October 12.
Our
new parking surface will be all concrete and provide additional parking
space and improved drainage. Sidewalks surrounding City Hall will also
be replaced.
Despite the construction, City Hall will maintain normal business hours.
The
rear and front-side parking areas will be done one at a time. This means
that while somewhat limited, parking will be available at City Hall
throughout construction. The public business entry will always be via
the front stairs. City Council and other meetings, including Municipal
Court, will use either the rear or side door depending on the area of
construction work.
